JOB SUMMARY
The Security Operations Specialist is responsible for performing duties of dayshift front desk guard. Ensures the security of all Kentucky Lottery Corporation (KLC) property both internal and external through the monitoring of surveillance systems and performing assigned walking tours. Reports security-related incidents, suspicious, extraordinary, and unusual subjects, and/or events to Security Department management in a timely manner. Monitors activities of contract security officers. Performs maintenance inspections of surveillance cameras and card access systems. Escorts security equipment vendors. Serves as primary custodian of corporate keys, locks, lock cores, and ticket vendor truck delivery documentation. Assists with KLC employee onboarding and offboarding processes related to access badges and keys. Performs backup and support for Security administrative staff as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Greets and assists employees, guests, and vendors. Assigns temporary credentials and maintains sign-in logs.
- Assists Security Department management with monitoring contracted security personnel. Monitors and directs KLC contract security officers’ day-to-day activities and schedules weekly assignments. Develops and implements training for contract security officers. Handles daily activity and incident reports filed by contract security officers and submits weekly timesheets.
- Acts as a liaison with security vendor and ensures guards have adequate uniform supplies. Secures flex guards for the KLC. Reviews and updates post orders for contracted security personnel. Monitors actions of uniformed security guards assigned to all KLC location(s) to ensure standards and expectations are met. Relays all security related incidents, suspicious, extraordinary, and unusual subjects and/or events to KLC Security Management.
- Monitors KLC Security surveillance cameras and alarms, ensuring proper operation of equipment and provides escort to security equipment vendor(s) during install/repair visits.
- Serves as custodian of physical locks, lock cores and keys for the KLC Corporate Office. Places orders for production of new keys, locks, and lock cores and maintains electronic records. Ensures accurate and efficient tracking of assigned keys, cores, and locks. Issues keys to new employees and those transferring to new locations throughout the building. Ensures keys are turned in for separating employees. Confirms necessary forms are signed and keys are accounted for daily.
- Performs mail room related duties including intake and disbursement of mail, processing outgoing mail for pickup, and overseeing mail machine postage, supplies, and maintenance. Assists with completion of mail and bank deposits, as needed. Provides security presence during midday evening, and promotional drawings as needed.
- Serves as custodian of vendor ticket truck shipment documentation. Ensures KLC ticket truck shipment documentation is received for deliveries from vendor. Records and maintains electronic files.
- Manages delivery, storage and destruction of all KLC ticket stock. Maintains voided ticket stock inventory and documents requests and deliveries. Oversees the destruction of live ticket stock received from vendor.
- Responds to medical emergency event(s) on company property and notifies appropriate parties.
- Manages KLC’s Corporate Safety Coordinator program. Conducts annual training for safety coordinators and oversees departmental safety trainings. Maintains KLC personnel rosters, safety coordinator checklists and evacuation routes and rally points. Conducts and documents emergency response drills, as required. Ensures all employees receive emergency response training.
- Assists Security Department personnel as directed, with other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum two years’ experience in the security field preferred. A combination of education and work experience within a lottery or gaming organization a plus.
- Experience with surveillance equipment, software, and building access controls preferred.
- Must possess strong computer skills. Experience and competency with Microsoft Office applications required – especially Word and Excel.
- Must be able to collect, analyze, and draw conclusions from information obtained from various KLC system platforms, and document/communicate findings into logical reporting formats.
- Requires exceptional interpersonal skills and diplomacy.
- Must have excellent customer service skills.
- Must be willing to work in a team environment and handle sensitive security information with a high level of discretion and confidentiality.
- Must maintain first responder CPR/defibrillator certification.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record required.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Office environment.
- May be exposed to outside elements occasionally when walking outside the building.
- Must be willing to work occasional overtime and may be asked to fill in on evening, night, weekend, or holiday shifts should there be a shortage of security staff.

Salary Range: Min:$38,556 – Mid: $48,246.
Our goal is to pay a competitive market salary for new employees, which is typically up to the midpoint of our pay ranges. However, final offers for all positions will be based on several factors such as experience level, education, skills and internal pay equity.
