SUMMARY/JOB PURPOSE (Basic Purpose Of The Job)
This new and important Security Learning Leadership & Program Management role (Senior Product Management – IT Security Training OCM) includes designing, developing, and deploying effective Security specific learning experiences for all Exelixis Employees and Contractors. Success of this approach includes leveraging important Security information & best practices and collaborating with key business partners that include Exelixis IT leadership, Internal Security SMEs, Business Partners & Teams, and IT Helpdesk
Duties/Responsibilities
This role requires the candidate to have Institutional Learning Design, Development, and Deployment experience with a strong understanding of Cybersecurity principles, tools, and technologies. The following is a breakdown of the key capabilities for the role
Learning Design Phase
- Needs Analysis: Effectively collaborate with stakeholders to understand the organizational requirements, both risk/threat issues and performance concerns. Based on this analysis, learner needs, existing knowledge, and performance gaps are identified.
- Learning Objectives: Defines clear and measurable learning outcomes to guide the design process and drive learning development.
- Instructional Strategies: Chooses appropriate instructional methods (e.g., presentations, discussions, simulations, and case studies) based on learning objectives and learner characteristics.
Learning Development Phase
- Resource Gathering: Develops and/or gathers relevant resources to inform instruction – perspectives, videos, presentations, articles, simulations, and assessments.
- Material Development: Creates and/or purchases engaging and effective learning materials that align with the learning objectives and instructional strategies.
- Multimedia Integration: When available, incorporates multimedia elements (e.g., images, videos, audio) to enhance engagement and learning when possible.
- eLearning Tools: Utilizes and/or supports eLearning authoring tools and software to develop interactive and engaging learning experiences.
- Project Management: Manage the training project effectively, ensuring deadlines are met and resources are utilized efficiently.
Delivery
Learning Development Phase:
- Platform Selection: Chooses appropriate platforms for delivering learning experiences (e.g., online, in-person, hybrid).
- Training Delivery: Plans and manages the implementation of the learning program, ensuring that it reaches the target audience and is delivered effectively - scheduling and materials access.
- End-User Support: Provides technical support and ongoing assistance to learners during the deployment of the training.
Evaluation
- Feedback Collection: Gathers feedback from learners and stakeholders to assess the effectiveness of the learning experience.
- Data Analysis: Analyzes data and metrics to identify areas for improvement and refine the learning materials and delivery methods.
- Iteration: Uses evaluation results to revise and refine the learning program for ongoing improvement.
Note: Other duties can be assigned based on Program & Initiative profile and engagement requirements.

Education
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
Relevant educational disciplines include
Instructional Design,
Organizational Behavior, or
Organizational Development.
- Bachelor’s degree in related discipline with a minimum of 9 years of related application experience; or
- Master’s degree in related discipline with a minimum of 7 years of related application experience.
Experience
- Experience in the pharmaceutical and biotech industries is an advantage but not a requirement. Strategic and practical application in today’s institutions, corporate and/or government, is key. There are not specific certification/license requirements but affiliation to Learning and OCM institutions or groups is a plus.

- Risk Management: Information Security Policies & Guidelines, Vendor Risk Management Assessments, Phishing, and Network & Application Security Settings.
- Data Protection: Document Classification, Data Loss Prevention, Data Classification, and Transporting & Storage.
- Identity & Access Management: Single Sign On (SSO), Multi Factor Authentication (MFA), Zero Trust Network Access/Zscaler, and Privileged Account Management.

- Learning Theories & Principles: A substantial understanding of learning theories and instructional design principles.
- Instructional Design & Development: Expertise in designing, developing, and deploying learning programs.

Program Execution: (Intermediate)
- Project Planning & Coordination: Developing detailed plans for Security Learning projects within the program, including timelines and resources. Managing project tasks to ensure alignment, collaboration, and follow through based on stated project design, development, and deployment guidelines.
- Collaboration People Skills: Collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders, building strong relationships, and fostering a collaborative Security adoption learning and application environment.
- Evaluation & Measurement: Evaluate the effectiveness of learning programs, measuring impact on Security adoption practices that range from motivation to application.
Technology Capabilities
- Email & Instant Messaging: Engages for quick updates and informal & formal communications.
- Video Conferencing: Facilitates virtual meetings & training sessions.
- PowerPoint Software: Creating presentations from scratch or template, which includes adding text, image development, and videos.
- Collaboration Platforms: Leveraging Internal Messaging Applications for team communication and document sharing.
- Project Management Software: Using Project Management tools to help manage tasks, timelines, and resources.
- Surveys & Feedback Tools: Using Engagement Applications to gather employee feedback and assess change readiness requirements.
Work Environment/Physical Demands
The Senior Product Management – IT Security Training Manager role is primarily based in Alameda, California at the Exelixis Corporate Headquarters and is a “work from office” job. Exelixis’ office environment is a modern, open-plan space that foster collaborations and creativity. Teams work closely together, sharing ideas and solutions in a supportive atmosphere. We provide all necessary equipment, including dual monitors and ergonomic chairs, to ensure a comfortable workspace. Travel is minimal and based on Project requirements.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The base pay range for this position is $138,000 - $196,500 annually. The base pay range may take into account the candidate’s geographic region, which will adjust the pay depending on the specific work location. The base pay offered will take into account the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, experience and internal equity, among other factors.
In addition to the base salary, as part of our Total Rewards program, Exelixis offers comprehensive employee benefits package, including a 401k plan with generous company contributions, group medical, dental and vision coverage, life and disability insurance, and flexible spending accounts. Employees are also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus program, or if field sales staff, a sales-based incentive plan.
